Freight Manager
Buy low, sail far, sell high — and get home before the century moves on.
What it is
A trading and logistics game in the lineage of the ZX Spectrum classic Master Mariner. It opens in 1800 with a hundred thousand pounds and no ships. Buy a hull, carry what a far-off port is short of, and keep the fleet ahead of a century that turns sail into steam and makes every ship you own worth less than you paid for it.
- Eleven ports with prices that drift around what each one produces and wants
- Charters: carry somebody else's cargo for a fixed fee, against a deadline and a penalty
- Real sea routes: Canton is fourteen thousand miles by the Cape of Good Hope
- Ten classes of ship from the coastal sloop to the cargo liner, each with its own years
- New trades and new hulls as the century turns — and the Suez Canal from 1869, for steamers
- Gales, calms, pirates and burst boilers between you and the next port
- Week by week, saved in this browser, retired whenever you choose

The original.
- Ports with prices that drift around what each one makes and what it lacks
- Distance as the real cost: the ports that pay are the ports that take weeks
- Weather, pirates and machinery as the things between a plan and a profit
- A career you end by retiring, not one a timer ends for you
Master Mariner was one ship and one lifetime. Freight Manager gives you a fleet and a whole century: hulls age, sail gives way to steam, the Suez Canal opens in 1869, and the ship you were proud of in 1820 is scrap by 1880.
