Artillery / Turn-based

Tankd

Angle, power, wind. One shot to end the argument.

Early releasePlay this game

What it is

An artillery duel with Scorched Earth as its north star, developed as a game in its own right. Up to four tanks, one deformable landscape and a wind reading you will learn to hate. Pick your angle, pick your power, and watch the terrain disappear a crater at a time.

  • Angle and power aiming with a live wind reading
  • Destructible terrain that changes every exchange
  • A weapon inventory bought between rounds
  • Two to four tanks: friends at the screen, computer opponents, or both
  • Three computer difficulties, with a score multiplier for the tougher ones
  • First to two rounds, with cash carried between them

What Tankd keeps

  • Angle, power and wind as the whole of the aiming problem
  • Terrain that takes the damage and changes the next shot
  • A shop between rounds, paid for out of what the last one won
  • Computer opponents that range from harmless to thoroughly unsporting

Where it goes its own way

Scorched Earth ran to dozens of weapons and ten tanks at once, which is a lot of turns to sit through. Tankd keeps it to four tanks and a short inventory you can hold in your head, and hangs achievements and a league table off the result.
