The originals.
Super Sprint
Atari Games · Arcade, 1986
The whole circuit, all at once, and three wheels to fight over.
Read the homage to Super Sprint
Rally-X
Namco · Arcade, 1980
A maze you cannot see the edges of, and a radar that is the real game.
Read the homage to Rally-X
- A fixed overhead view, so the road is read rather than previewed
- Grip and weight transfer you feel through the corner, not through a tuning menu
- A route you have to hold in your head, with the radar as the only help
Neither original had a stage rally's structure. Rally Nine means to run nine timed stages back to back, with the damage and the clock carried from one to the next and no restarts.
Nothing to play yet
No achievements and no league table until the build lands. The brief above is the design target.
